Recre8, alongside the award winning ‘Daniel Alexander Films’ and ‘Pretty Hate Productions’ produced 'HURT' in 2011.  The 20 minute film highlights the social and personal consequences surrounding Knife Crime and was filmed entirely on location in Birmingham.  The cast were made up completely of young people who have come through Recre8 programmes and the project helped break down barriers between young people in different postcodes as they all worked together throughout the process.

The film premiered at Vue Cinema in Star City in Birmingham on Thursday, 14th June 2012 and the event was a huge success, selling out the screen it was shown in and leaving people having to stand!  At the end of the film, the young people received a standing ovation and spoke positively about their experiences throughout the process.

Further to it’s screening, ‘HURT’ was nominated in the category of ‘Best Festival Short Film’ at the 2012 MVSA Film Awards in Birmingham with cast and crew attending the event at the ICC.

Recre8 are immensely proud of everybody involved with the project and are now in talks regarding the production of a further two short films of this kind.
